Joel started his career as an attorney in the capital markets group at Gouldens Solicitors in London, now the London office of Jones Day. He left private practice to join the fast growing investment banking and broking business of Collins Stewart where he helped build the capital markets team into the leading small to mid-cap company fund raising group in the London market. After a period away from Collins Stewart, where he co-founded a $500m early stage technology fund, Joel returned to the Collins Stewart Tullett group as Chief Operating Officer where he oversaw the highly successful merger of Tullett Liberty and Prebon Yamane, two multi-national brokers with over 3,500 staff in 27 locations. He was then appointed CEO of Collins Stewart plc, the group’s investment banking, brokering and wealth management divisions, when it was de-merged and separately listed. During his tenure as CEO of Collins Stewart, the company’s revenues doubled as he focused on diversifying the business with the acquisition of the Hawkpoint advisory business and the the build-out of the wealth management group, which had approximately $16 billion of AUM when it was acquired by Cannacord Genuity in 2012.
